I am trying to assist some end users troubleshoot an issue with Outlook freezing up when attempting to send email. I have correlated this behavior with Event ID 1003 (Office Software Protection Platform Service) in the Windows Application logs. When the user sends the email, Outlook's window changes to. We're facing a serious issue at the moment. Every Terminal Server ( Remote Desktop Services Windows Server Standard 2008 r2 x64 ) is showing performance issues for logged in TS Users and MS Office.
Users report system freezes for 20-30 seconds at a time, multiple times per day. The Terminal Servers are running in VM's ( VMWare ESXi 5.0 U1 )
From the Windows/Application logs, we have the following entry showing up multiple times per minute ( ! )

We have run: C:UsersAdministrator>cscript 'C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft OfficeOffice14OSPP.VBS' /dstatusall and confirmed that the MAK license key is valid and activated
- changing the registry key Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftOfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform to 604800 ( 1 week in seconds ) did not help
- stopping the service 'Office Software Protection Platform' did not help. Even if on manual or disabled, it starts automatically
- reinstalling MS Office does not solve the log entries and user 'freezing' either
- This only occurs on servers which are running Remote Desktop Services!!

I have a customer who has Outlook 2010 (as part of Office Home and Business 2010) on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS with 12GB RAM, 250GB HD. He complains that from to time his OUTLOOK takes several to 15 seconds to (1) delete an email, (2) open an email (3) open an email with art file attachment. (4) move an email in INBOX to another folder.
When I check EventVwr.msc, I see the following event 3-4 times in a row almost every hour. Please see Event ID: 1003 below. I wonder why it is checking licensing status when the product is already activated.
Also he has ESET anti-virus software and I see Outlook event a few times every hour. Please see Event ID: 45 below.
Beside, he has a couple of AOL accounts defined in his Outlook and one of the accounts data file size is 22GB. The rest of anywhere 2-8GB files.
I wonder which is the most likely problem for sporadic slowdown in Outlook:
(1) IMAP setup in Outlook and outlook data files are too big for constant synch
