Issue:

  • Flame Family 2019.2 requires the new AJA driver 14.2.
  • The driver & associated firmware introduces a new transfer mode for 4K timings called 2SI.
  • The 2SI option is available in 2019.2 in the broadcast preference (see 2019.2 release notes), but is not in previous versions.
  • Running older versions of Flame Family products with the new AJA driver can cause some functionality regressions regarding SDI vs HDMI 4K transfers via the AJA Kona cards.

AJA Kona 4 or AJA Kona 3G boards

Solution:

If it is required to revert the driver to the previous version, this can be done without the full reinstallation of the DKU, using the attached AJA script.
To revert to the previous AJA driver:
  1. Download the attached file AJA_2019.1.tar
  2. Login as root and open a terminal
  3. Extract the archive to a location of your choice:
  1. Navigate to the folder where the archive has been extracted:
# cd /usr/tmp/aja_2019.1/

To revert to the previous AJA firmware (optional):
  1. Navigate to the folder where the AJA firmware update tool has been extracted:
